Class of 2008 Until 4 January

The Hub, Lincolnshire. Spot innovative new work by some of the most talented art and design graduates across the country. Expect everything from jewellery, textiles, glass, furniture and more...

Writer's Rooms 3 December–17 January

Madison Contemporary Art, London. Take a peak into the creative spaces of literary talents like Will Self and Sue Townsend at this photography exhibition. We all have at least one good novel waiting to be penned so take some inspiration and unleash your creative potential.

January 2009

London Art Fair 14–18 January

Business Design Centre, Islington, London. Fancy yourself as the next Charles Saatchi? Head here to choose from works from 100 galleries spanning the last century. Back for its 21st year, the show has something for all budgets – expect anything museum quality pieces to works for £20.

Top Drawer Spring 18–20 January

Earl's Court, London. This is where retailers go to get ahead of the game. It's the first opportunity of the year to source hot new products for the Spring/Summer seasons ahead, with over 800 of the best suppliers, from small designermakers to international brands. (Trade only)

Interiors Birmingham 18–21 January

NEC Birmingham. Get yourself in the know by heading to this complete showcase of the best in classic and modern, indoor and outdoor furniture and accessories. (Trade only)

The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair 20–25 January

Battersea Park, London. Love chintz? The English country house staple will be the focus of the first of this year's three fairs, home to over 130 exhibitors offering antiques and 20th century design.

Maison&Objet 23–27 January

Paris–Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, Paris. Discover a dazzling display of the latest innovations in the interiors market at this biannual mecca for the design world. (Trade only)

February 2009

Spring Fair International 1–5 February

NEC Birmingham. This hotly anticipated event brings together buyers and exhibitors from around the world. Check out cutting edge designs – from art and wall decor, to jewellery and home furnishings and much, much more... (Trade only)

Surface Design Show 10–12 February

Business Design Centre, Islington. Check out the latest innovations in interior and exterior surfaces and schmooze with architects, interior designers and builders. Don't miss the exciting new Green Surfaces section. Register for free here. (Trade only)

Ceramic Art London 27 February–1 March

Royal College of Art, London. Pick up one off contemporary studio ceramics from local and international artists. Prices range from £15 to £10,000.

March 2009

London Design Week 09 15–20 March

Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, London. Delve through the new collections of over 300 international brands and discover what everyone's talking about. View the latest fabrics, furniture, lighting, accessories and more. (Trade 15–17 March, public 18–20)

April 2009

Interior Fit–Out Fair 1–2 April

ExCel Centre, London. If you deal in shopfittings, furniture, doors, ceilings, walls, windows, fittings or fastenings, then set yourself up for some networking at this two day event. (Trade only)

Grand Designs Live 25 April–4 May

ExCel Centre, London. Always dreamed of building your own home? Fancy rubbing shoulders with dreamy Kevin McCloud? Grand Designs Live is the place to turn these dreams into reality – packed with interactive features and free consultations with design experts to solve all your burning questions. Tickets £10–£18. May 2009

Collect 15–17 May

Saatchi Gallery, Chelsea, London. A swish new venue for an equally cool event. Expect to see some of the world's best decorative art from around 350 artists, spanning ceramics, glass, jewellery, silver, metalwork, textiles, wood and furniture.

Pulse London 31 May–2 June

Earl's Court, London. Spot new trends, new ideas and new designers at this innovative exhibition. The highlight? Launchpad, home to the big stars of the future. (Trade only)

Casa Decor UK date tbc

Central London. Europe and Latin America's most prestigious design event hits London this month. An abandoned building will be transformed by a selection of cutting–edge designers into a chic showcase for the latest innovations. For more details, watch this space! Be inspired by the video below.

July 2009

Home & Gift 19–22 July

Harrogate, UK. Scout out fresh new designs, Christmas gifts and homewares from over 900 exhibitors to kick start the new season. Then relax in the picturesque spa town. (Trade only)
