The summer holiday home of muched loved children’s writer Beatrix Potter has been put on the property market. The three bedroomed cottage in Scotland was a summer retreat for the author and is said to be where she established her love for nature. The house has a beautiful 1¼ mile fishing beat along both banks of the river that flows next to the cottage and the Potter family used to fish a lot there. It may even have inspired the characters she is famous for, such as Mr Jermey Fisher and Jemima Puddleduck. The cottage and land is on the market for £760,000, but with an annual catch of 100 salmon available from the river think of all the money you’d save at the fish counter!
Recapture your own childhood with Beatrix Potter’s classic tales of Peter Rabbit and co. John Lewis has a luxury edition of her complete tales (£70) or get the Peter Rabbit nursery gift set (£23), also from John Lewis.
