Holly Becker is the founder of the interior design blog decor8, which receives 35,000 unique readers. Her blog is a fantastic source for inspiration and is a fond favourite of everyone at mydeco. Tomorrow Holly will release her first book – with the numerically challenged yet apt title Decorate. Holly and her co-author Joanna Copestick have published a book full of design information; it showcases bold interior images and combines them with inspirational quotes from influential designers.

The book has over 1,000 inspirational design ideas for every room in the house and has over 20 real-world case studies of beautiful rooms that have amazing designs. The inclusion of lived-in houses is what really helps to ground this book and put it on another level – instead of your typical showroom pictures it emphasises what you can actually achieve for your own home.
Designers such as Jonathan Adler and Rita Konig all feature as case studies in the book, with lavish pictures of their stylish houses perfect for those nosey snoopers.

Full of childlike charm each page has trinkets and collectables combined with chic upholsteries and furniture, brought together with splashes of colour like a kids Crayola colour book.
The ‘Flea Market Style,’ is a personal favourite of mine with up-cycling treats, thrift shop bargains and vintage and antique goodies; it gives each room character. As Holly and Joanna say: ‘Discovering your style sensibility and why you are attracted to certain things is one of the most joyful and emotionally freeing processes of decorating.’

The book aims to spark the imagination of even the most dormant hoarder and start your eclectic journey. It’s definitely a good starter-point for inspiration and doesn’t lose its blogging charm with heaps of images and drop quotes. Certainly a book worth reading – make sure you get your copy soon.
