Dulux Twiggy models with 8 Dulux Sheepdogs as they become a superbrand

The Top 20 Superbrands for 2012 were unveiled today and Dulux made the grade for the first time, ranking 8th and beating other household names like John Lewis, Dyson and even Apple.

The annual consumer poll showcases the top brands who constantly deliver excellence and quality, and influence today’s consumers.

Dulux celebrated in style – retro 1960s style to be precise. Coming hot on the heels of London Fashion Week, eight Twiggy look-a-like models and iconic Dulux dogs turned Westminster Bridge into a catwalk (…or dogwalk) and strutted a rainbow of bright Dulux paint swatches through London.

The models wore matching ’60′s inspired shift dresses each showcasing a Dulux paint shade, including Fire Cracker 3, a vibrant red which I showcased as a key colour for 2012 on the blog last week. Other colours include Bermuda Cocktail 2 and Sulphur Springs 4, echoing the bright palette tipped to be popular for spring/summer 2012.

Letty Edwards, UK marketing director of Dulux, said: ‘Dulux has been bringing colour to people’s lives for over 50 years and holds a unique relationship with British consumers. The Superbrands ranking is an indicator of the huge amount of affection and trust people have for the brand and we feel constantly proud to be helping our customers transform and improve their homes.’
