This week I’m looking at arguably the most important part of any Christmas theme, the tree. Whether you buy real or artificial, small or large, the possibilities are endless. You can create a real impression with your choice of festive foliage! Here are a few of my favourite trees and decorations…

Your decorations can be bright and jazzy, or simple and understated. If the latter is your style, you’ll love these chic pinecone decorations.

If you don’t have space for a large tree, you could go for something a bit different – I love the look of these ‘tree cones’, which you can easily make by hand. Dotted around the edges of a small room, these would be really effective space-saving decorations.

You can never go wrong with a fairly monochromatic scheme. White decorations have a timeless, classy feel – and the dusting of snow over the branches of this tree really finish off the look.

If you’re feeling brave, why not play with colour? As long as the rest of your room is fairly neutral, you can afford to play with a mixture of bright colours. I love the candy canes added to this vibrant tree.

In a really plain, neutral room, you can afford to go crazy. A lush tree with thick branches, kitted out from top to bottom with luxe, colourful decorations is really eyecatching and so festive. I love the use of leaves as well as the usual baubles and lights in this tree.

Something we’ve noticed this year is that tinsel seems to be having a bit of an ‘off-year’ – being replaced by beads and ribbons for a less sparkly look. It’s surprising how much more modern your tree will look without it.

Creating a theme for your tree can sometimes be a little daunting – there are so many options! One way to do it is to find a decoration you love, something unique – and build your scheme around it. Take a look at this week’s wishlist, where I’ve pulled together some of my favorite tree decorations. You’ll see I’ve chosen a range of colours and textures – don’t be afraid to mix and match!
