This year pastel palettes are one of those trends that gets hotter as the seasons change. But not only is it hot to wear pastels this spring/summer season, it’s hot to live in them too. Pastel is a sophisticated color palette and is ideal for a living room that oozes elegance.

Start off by using a light pastel shade for your walls. Blue and green are excellent choices as they are calming and generally fall into the neutral catagory. Choose beige upholstery for your sofas, armchairs and rugs.

Carefully place pastel accessories and cushions to make a statement. If you are going to have a larger selection of cushions, make sure to match the the first set of cushions with the walls and then add two more tones of pastel. You don’t want it to look like a cotton candy store exploded in your living room, so try ease into it by gradually adding selective accessories.

Pastel doesn’t have to be boring either.  Add splashes of bright colour to accent corners of the room or pair with shades of the same colour to give the room depth.

Here are some rooms the mydecorati have created using pastel palettes.
