Get a designer home for less in the January sales

We are well into into the first week of 2012 and I bet a lot of us are either ignoring our New Year’s resolutions or are planning the first all important steps and repeating the mantra ‘I can do this, I can do this…’. My resolution is to get a home I’m happy with – a new look, in other words – and I really do think this is an achievable goal, and well overdue.

With the cheerful clusters of red holly berries gone from the mantel, the sparkling lights leaving window sills bare, and the festive Christmas tree revealing an empty corner, yet again we can see what our homes lack. It may be nice to be able to dust and clean once more without sending a shower of pine needles onto the carpet but when the glitter and gold has gone the new year always brings a need for renewal.

And where do we get our inspiration from? For new looks, seasonal trends and home furnishing ideas we often turn to magazines or surf the net and drool over sleek celebrity mansions, renovated farmhouses cuddled in Cath Kidston or new apartments dripping in Conran.
