Now the warmer weather has replaced the cold frigid winter, have you thought about spring gardening?
No matter how small your patch of land is, gardening can be a refuge from the hustle and bustle of city life. Consider taking walks through your neighborhood to get inspired on how other urban homeowners are embracing outdoor greenery in their backyards.

For those living in suburban or rural homes, the space for planting a garden and housing shrubbery may be plentiful. But if you live in an urban environment and have limited open space, gardening may be more of a challenge. Never fear urban dwellers, there are plenty of ideas for your city garden.
Determine how much space you have:
While this sounds obvious, many of us run out to the nursery and home improvement garden centers and bring back large plants that we don’t have enough room for, or will grow too big for our space. If you have a small urban backyard, measure out the area and consider space-saving options such as potted containers, climbing plants for fences, and tiered gardens.
If your space is limited to a terrace or windows that open, consider small patches of grass, hanging flowering baskets, or patios that interplay walking stones and ground cover greenery. As long as you have a small plot of land there are plenty of options to consider.

Add ambiance to your city garden:
Greenery is important but don’t forget the supporting cast members of fountains, meditation areas and lighting. Once you have your city garden bursting with gorgeous plants, you’ll want to be able to relax and enjoy the ambiance.
Small fountains can be incorporated amongst shrubbery to add dimension, as well as sensory appreciation. There is nothing more relaxing than the playful trickle of a fountain. You can create small meditation areas within your greenery using gravel or sand to break up hard and cold concrete spaces.
For evening enjoyment add wall mounted lighting and small lanterns that can be placed on a garden table next to wherever you want to unwind. By adding these elements you’ll soon create the ultimate oasis in the city.
