With the transition between August and September being well-known for a second coming of the summer sun, this week we’re thinking about Indian summer styling. Great for a last touch of heat before we succumb to autumn, here are some of my favourite inspirational Indian summer images.
When you think Indian summer, you think bright splashes of colour – jewel tones, saffron and rich reds. But although this look is beautiful, it doesn’t have to be so bold. You can create a feeling of calm warmth with more subtle colours and patterns too.
This room uses light patterns and bare walls cleverly to create a really earthy feel. You can build your theme like this, around neutral walls and furniture, and brighten it with accessories – but it also works just as well the other way round. I love the bold blue walls in this bedroom, they make the room really grab the eye. The subdued mix of colours in the bed and soft furnishings complement the bright colour perfectly.
Use rustic wood, patterned soft furnishings and small touches like lanterns and glass candleholders to bring this look to life. To make your theme feel more authentic, opt for handcrafted pieces. I really love these gold vases, a small touch that can make a big difference to your room.
Try the look for yourself – I’ve put together a wishlist with my favourite Indian summer pieces to get your inspiration going. Until August the 31st you can get free delivery on everything at mydeco – get theming, and enjoy the sunshine!

Quirky accessories are my favourite and I love nothing more than finding something bold and beautiful to make a room really stand out! Read more posts by Laura.
