A new year always brings a new look with it.

We are bored of chintz and fine cutlery and welcome the recent move towards cumbersome, rough, nature-inspired tableware.
Word on the street is that matte-effect thick crockery is currently enchanting the nation, particularly House of Fraser’s Daley range, which Ideal Home say would look fab on a wooden table along with white accessories.

We agree – Daley is really thick and rugged thanks to its stoneware finish. And – bonus! – it is affordable.

We also think it would be great to use as part of a dramatic or Gothic dining room, particularly when combined with a rich red colour scheme (both big trends this season).

To chunk up your table, look no further than our hand-picked selection of dining room accessories.

Do you like the chunky trend? We want to know.

I love the idea of ditching the chintz and going for a more rough and rugged look. I find porcelain and other fine china so easy to break and I think for every day use the chunkier the better!

What do you think?
