I’m posting from Costa Rica this week, and although I’ve not seen enough to report on interiors from here yet, I thought I’d share a few tips for creating a holiday feel at home using turquoise.

Turquoise is my all time favourite colour, for walls, furnishings, clothes… you name it! This time of year always slightly depresses me, which is why I usually take my annual holiday now! Post Christmas and before the spring, a little injection of colour can go a long way to lifting your mood. Turquoise reminds me of clear seas and never fails to make me feel relaxed and inspired.

Bluey turquoise is the colour of relxation and luxury holidays.

A classic way to channel the sea side holiday feel is in the bathroom. Blues are an excellent choice as they give a feeling of cleanliness and serenity, and if you can make the small mental leap from a turquoise, watery, bathroom setting to the caribbean so much the better! I love the crisp white against the blue here.

I love the clean, airy feel of this light bathroom with a roll top bath.

The turquoise-white combination can also work really well for kitchen and dining spaces as seen in these pictures below.

I just love the coastal feel of this kitchen.

Contrasting white and turquoise accents

A little turquoise can go a long way, so think about sprinkling a few accents around your home to make a subtle but uplifting impact.

So if the snow and gloom are getting you down and the summer seems an eternity away, some turquoise might be just the thing you need. Here are some of my favourite mydeco.com pieces.
