We’re expanding!

It’s exciting times at mydeco.com. We’re growing rapidly, we’re getting some wonderful new boutiques on site and we’ve recently been joined by the fabulous Michelle Alger. Michelle is our new Creative and Commercial Director and was previously the buying manager of homeware and gifts at Liberty London. Prior to Liberty, Michelle spread her creative net far and wide, enjoying buying roles at Paul Smith and Ralph Lauren to name but a few.

I caught up with Michelle for a quick chat.

What fresh challenges are you looking forward to at mydeco.com?

I am really excited about working with great designers and boutiques in 2013 and to building mydeco.com further, as the most inspiring place to find affordable, exclusive products for the home .

Favourite product on mydeco.com?

The leather strap bread boards from Rowan and Wren.

You’ve worked at both Paul Smith and Ralph Lauren, who’s your style icon and why?

I am going to sound biased, but Sir Paul Smith is my style icon.  The way that he channels creativity within his teams, and looks for inspiration in the everyday is a great style sensibility to have!

How would you describe your home?

Natural, eclectic, textural, antique.

One product in your home you can’t live without?

My Kristjana S Williams framed giclee print.

Who’s your favourite designer?

Piet Hein Eek, for his simplistic signature style.

Which designer do you think will make a big impact in 2013?

Simon Hasan, he is already making a name for himself, and I love his use of leather and brass together.

Which three people would you invite to a dream dinner party, Come Dine With Me style?

Joan Rivers, Gabrielle Dante Rossetti, and Stephen Fry.

Where is your favourite holiday getaway?

North Cornwall.

We’re happy to have Michelle on board, and we welcome her fine taste in fashion designers. (Fun fact: Paul Smith is also my favourite fashion brand!)
