Love a trend? So do we. It’s been mayhem in the mydeco office this week as the new Spring/Summer 2010 collections are released. As fashion house Jigsaw partners with House of Fraser and OKA goes lacquer mad, it’s an exciting season – see my top ten collections hitting the market this month:
1. Dwell S/S 2010 – modern brights

Dwell’s collection is fresh and contemporary, with bright splashes of colour and clean, modern silhouettes. Their funky butterfly cushions will brighten up any sofa.
2. John Lewis S/S 2010 – retro folk

Budge over Russian dolls, folk is getting a new twist at John Lewis with seventies-inspired prints in bold blues and greens.
3. Jigsaw at House of Fraser S/S 2010 - fashion furnishings

The much-anticipated marriage between fashion house Jigsaw and House of Fraser does not disappoint. Jigsaw’s debut homeware range, available next week, is all faded candy cane stripes and muted greys and creams; their bed linen captures that eclectic British charm they do so well. House of Fraser have also gone all-out with florals for summer: see the new range in this Buy The Look.
4. Heal’s S/S 2010 – Nordic charm

The new collection at Heal’s, on the other hand, includes Nordic-style wooden furniture with sharp and clean silhouettes, reminiscent of sixties Scandinavia. Red is also a main feature, with Tomato as their trend colour for Spring/Summer. Look out for fluoro oranges, warm corals and pillarbox reds.
5. Laura Ashley S/S 2010 – daring florals

Don’t you just love it when Laura Ashley goes bold? This season, their trusty British florals have been updated for the new collection with damask prints in eye-catching fuchsia and lime green. Not for the cautious decorator…
6. OKA S/S 2010 – exotic lacquer

Over at OKA, it’s as if someone has given the brand an injection of youth; Ben Fogle is their new ambassador and new releases include modern lacquered furniture in deep, oriental reds.
7. Marks & Spencer S/S 2010 – statement prints

Trusty M&S has gone all-out on the digital print this Spring, with an array of bold patterns including houndstooth, giant florals and ultra-contemporary stripes.
8. Sainsbury’s S/S 2010 – seaside chic

The Spring collection at Sainsbury’s is one of my favourites. The designs are fresh and bright with a nautical edge, combining seaside chic with a luxurious Hamptons feel.
9. Jasper Conran at Debenhams S/S 2010 – bold citrus shades

For bold, contemporary style, Jasper Conran’s new collection for Debenhams ticks all the boxes. Yellow is having a big revival at the moment and pieces such as this duvet cover and cushion will bring your home right up to date.
10. Habitat S/S 2010 – urban summer

The new S/S collection at Habitat focuses on summer in the city, and includes dark wood furniture and unashamedly colourful summer accessories. As always, their garland lights will perk up any dining area, urban or rural, and their modern rug designs are right on trend.

What were the team at Laura Ashley thinking? I always rely on them for stylish English prints – but this! What a disaster! If I wanted putrid green I’d go to Ikea… Not sure about this at all…

Stella,
Sainsbury’s have told us that most of the new collection will be in stores only, and only the larger items are to be sold online – ie, ones that you can’t carry home.
They have a customer service number if you would like to speak to them: 0800 636 262
Good luck!

I’m loving the Laura Ashley yellow but prefer the Jasper Conran yellow bedroom accents but isn’t turquoise the Pantone colour of the year? And Designers Guild have their new range out too, lush! The Habitat summer in the City range looks great. I can’t wait for Summer.
