A few weekends ago I indulged in some good ol’ fashioned British fun at Giffords Circus. Having never been to the circus before, I was waiting somewhat apprehensively for lions to come charging through hoops and seals to balance red rubber balls on their noses. Luckily, however, Giffords soon dispelled my clearly rather dated preconceptions, dazzling its audience with an enchanting array of music, dance and acrobatics – all breathtakingly executed but brimming with a certain bohemian charm and nostalgia all the while.
So taken was I with what I saw, with the costumes (cue: craving for all-things-vintage) and the music and the sheer spectacle of it all, I thought I would share my pictures and inspire a circus-infused revival of all things bright, glittery and fun in time for Carnival next weekend.
If you haven’t yet witnessed the Giffords spectacle, it is well worth a visit.
