See the colourful trends for spring/summer 2012 at the new Home exhibition

January saw the launch of Home, a new homeware show exhibiting alongside the reputable Top Drawer at Earls Court, London. The show boasted the best designers and companies from the UK and Europe all showing off their new accessories for 2012. Of course, we couldn’t resist a chance to get a sneak peek of the spring/summer 2012 trends as well as catching up with mydeco.com‘s creative suppliers. We had our video camera at the ready to capture Top Drawer’s fantastic sister show:

Animal motifs

This is a definite trend leader for spring/summer and we’re not talking about dreary paintings of unknown cats and dogs. Oh no, we saw beautifully printed jungle animals and creepy crawlies appearing on many of the designs at Home. For 2012 think pink flamingos, silhouetted stags, graphic monkeys and giant insects sitting proud in your home.

Natural History, one of mydeco.com’s suppliers, have got a varied array of animal motif accessories, including cushions, linen and stationary. Their products at Home showcase the versatility of this trend – from repeated patterns as seen on this Bee cushion, to large solo images, such as this beautiful Butterfly no.1 cushion – and how animal motifs can be used as heavily or as sparingly as you think fits your home.

Bold and bright

What better way to pretend that springtime is already here than by filling your home with lots of beautiful colour. And for 2012, the brighter the better! Be brave and inject some colour into your home, not only with accessories but with your furniture too, like these funky Kartell Charles Ghost Stools.

Colour doesn’t have to mean modern and it certainly doesn’t have to be used exclusively.
