After your home has been sitting through the dormant winter, springtime is the perfect time to dust out the cobwebs – literally! Over the winter your home accrues dust and dirt behind appliances, furniture, and in your major systems in your home. From the heating and air conditioning unit, to your clothes dryer vented to the outdoors, closed up areas need to be opened up and swept clean of debris. Here are 5 tips to help you with your spring cleaning to get you outside enjoying the warm sun.

1. Pull out furniture and appliances:
Between pet hair, dust, and everyday airborne dirt, behind your furniture and appliances can get very dirty. In your living spaces, pull out couches, and use a vacuum cleaner hose attachment behind large armoires and dressers. In your kitchen, pull out stove and refrigerator to clean behind and under.

2. Clean your carpets and flooring:
Even if you do this on a weekly basis, pay close attention to areas that are heavily trafficked by your family, and consider area rugs that continuously get dirty. These areas can have the area rugs cleaned separately.  For hardwood floors keep up with dusting floors, especially behind furniture.

3. Clean windows:
While everyone has a method of cleaning they would like to use for cleaning windows, the most important thing is to do it! Clean inside and outside of your windows to remove months of weather abused and irrigation sprinkler splattered windows. Many modern windows can be accessed from the inside, which can make cleaning an easier chore than ever.

4. Clean out your major appliances:
Do a thorough cleaning through your refrigerator. Freezer, clothes washer, dryer, and heating and cooling systems of your home. Follow the manufacturer directions for draining hot water heaters and changing air filters on the air conditioning/heating unit. Inspect all appliances for old cords, rusting, or malfunctioning to catch early signs of deterioration.

5. Don’t forget high spaces:
The easiest areas for us to forget are spaces that are not within our eye level. Dust builds up quickly on ceiling fans, high plant shelves, window and door frames, and light fixtures. Walk through your home and dust off high areas, and try and keep up with this once a month. It will also help family members who have allergies!

Spring cleaning is the best thing to happen to you and your home. It gives your house a fresh breath of clean, but it also ensures you and your family will have a healthier spring.  If you can, make a checklist of what you cleaned and what you didn’t get to. This will help keep track of what needs to be cleaned. Just think, in a few months you will be running out the door to the pool, and not thinking about spring cleaning!

These are very good and useful tips but I still hate Cleaning :S

cleaning process is a very tiring process …. I also hate the dust :/

I also think that applying these tips needs time .. sometimes u need to save time as well as money… last March I needed to clean my house and I dealt with princess maid services company and I think it is also money saving , they did very good work and I didn’t have to pay too much money. But even if you are worried that it requires some additional costs, you can think about that the other way – you can use that time that you would spend for cleaning working and making some extra money, more than you would pay for the cleaning service.

Thanks again for your tips … keep the great work up.

You really don’t need to buy the expensive store bought cleaning supplies. Things you already have around the house will do for
    home cleaning supplies.
