With a lot of people leaning towards a more vintage romantic feel for their bedrooms at the moment I thought I would base today’s post on how to achieve this look. Vintage is all about soft colours, delicate patterns and textured fabrics – all of which bring an instant romantic feel to a bedroom.

Vintage style bedroom

This look is easily created using metal bed frames, throws and vintage prints.  Mix and match bedding easily from various eras, such as paisley quilts and chenille bedspreads. Walls and wallpaper don’t have to be neutral and can be quite mix and match – but patterned tapestry nicely contrasts with simple neutral walls.

Update your old darker furniture by repainting it white and change drawer knobs to decorative vintage style ones. Hanging lace curtains will give your room an instant romantic feel while still giving you privacy. Paint old wooden floorboards white or lay multiple rugs to give it that shabby, comfortable look.  Hang old updated frames and mirrors.

I’ve found two great 3D designs by the mydeco.com community, both showcasing great (but very different) ways to bring the vintage romantic feel to your bedroom.

I Love Iris Apfel - by annagunbina

This gorgeous example of vintage style is by annagunbina. The detail in this room really gives a sense of how vintage can be done with bright colour – without overpowering the small space.

I'm a little bit (french) country - by starsector

Another example of vintage at its finest is this room by star sector. Working with a neutral colour palette definitely doesn’t mean you can’t experiment with prints and textures.

I hope these tips help you to create the bedroom of your dreams.
