"Room39 deconstructs form and presents electrifying colour which is anything but understated."
Inspiration comes expectantly and from all directions, present, past visions of future even. With my style of design they all converge: nature/urban, feminine/ masculine, sophisticated/ child like... into an abstract form or pattern that I than explore through a variety of mediums and applications. I guess I'm most attracted by 'things' I can deconstruct and play around with.
I try and source materials locally in UK whenever I can, but no further than continental Europe.
My honest response would be : I have no idea! On a subconscious level most probably, but from my perspective I don't see a distinct influence from either direction. I am however toying with the idea of developing a 'fusion' range combining Slovenian folklore elements within a William Morris inspired surface design as a nod to my two homelands.
Primarily, slowly! I juggle my business with taking care of my young children and I want to be there for them in these formative years. I also want to truly explore the boundaries of 'applicability' for my design ideas... the crossover from home to, fashion to accessories... Play around a bit before the Room39 brand identity becomes too defined.
I must say my #At_an _angle range of geology inspired abstract patterns is still a constant source of inspiration and delight. I launched the Marmo, the Rock and the Granit design in cushion form in January this year and I have now added, 'spin-off' products (scarves, mugs, plates and coaster) to the range that were very well received at this years Tent London show.
