Experienced Javascript developer

Do you want a new and exciting opportunity, working alongside mydeco.com?

In this role you will be able to take ownership for all aspects of an interactive visualisation system utilising HTML, JavaScript and frameworks such as jQuery to produce an intuitive user interface for the creation of stunning rooms and house plans.

You will be working alongside a small, but exceptionally highly skilled team of backend software engineers and algorithm developers in a sociable, collaborative environment.

Requirements:

  • You must have good knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX and HTML.
  • Experience with HTML5, SVG, Canvas and jQuery would be highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Protovis, D3.js, Raphaeljs, Polymaps or any other comparable data visualisation frameworks would be advantageous.

    Senior Developer

    We are looking for a talented senior developer who is passionate about technology, the web, and open source. You will have a proven track record of delivering complex, high performance, highly available web sites.

    Requirements:
  • The right person for this role will be an experienced web developer with 5+ years experience, including 2+ years as a team or project lead.
  • You will be at home with skills such as Linux/open source stack, with Python/Django experience being preferable.
  • The right candidate will be comfortable making high-level strategic or architectural decisions as well as coding elegant solutions to difficult problems.
  • You will be able to deliver solutions that range from back-end systems & database design to dealing with front-end UI issues.
  • You will have some knowledge of payment systems or gateways, complex back-end processing and be happy to share good development standards and practices.
  • This person will review code and act as a team mentor.
  • You will have a passion for keeping up to date with all the latest thinking in all areas of web development, be great working under pressure while having a sense of humour.

    Classification & Search Internship

    Do you love data and searching for products on the web ? Are you tired of not finding what you want when you search the web? mydeco, the world's leading site for interior design and home furnishings, is seeking a superstar to help organise a large amount of data (13 million products ) to improve user experience on our new US site.

    In addition you will have the opportunity to interact with our Sony Home users to gain a better understanding of user's behaviour, as well as updating our activities and organising competitions. We have the world's largest 3D furniture collection (85,000), so we are looking for opportunities to utilise our asset and you could help us to do that.

    As well as Sony home, Turbosquid is the world's large 3D model trading site, and we are planning on uploading our top 1,000 3D models on Turbosquid on monthly basis. So, we will need someone with a good design sense to go through our renders & wireframes, and pick out the models with the best potential for generating sales.

      The key attributes you will need to possess will be:

    • A fast learner, proactive and ready to embrace a challenge
    • Excellent organisation skill and attention to detail (classification)
    • Experience in managing forums/ blogs would be very useful
    • No technical experience is needed for selecting 3D models, however, a good sense in design would be a bonus.
    • A numerical degree , IT, Product design & or Business would be an advantage.

      Editorial Internship Programme

      mydeco's three-month editorial internship is a great opportunity for a budding journalist keen to broaden his/her knowledge of online magazines, online publishing, video editing and the interior market.

        Your key areas of responsibility would cover:

      • Researching and writing articles
      • Uploading articles via our Content Management System for the site and via wordpress for the mydeco blog
      • Sourcing and artworking images
      • Contributing ideas and trends to features meetings
      • Interviewing designers
      • Representing the company at press shows and exhibitions
      • Shooting and editing videos

      Social Media & Community Internship Programme

      mydeco's three month social media & community internship is a great opportunity for a budding marketing person who wants to delve into the world of social media, community management, online publishing, and the interior market.

      A large part of this role will include moderating forums, managing mydeco’s offsite social media channels (like Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon) and working with mydeco ‘experts’ to create great forum content.

        Your key areas of responsibility would cover:

      • Announcing new features to the passionate base of users
      • Regularly getting involved in conversations with the users with technical support or design discussions
      • Moderating the mydeco forum for advertising
      • Representing the company at meetups
      • Assisting in face-to-face user feedback sessions
