Senior Front End Web Developer

Essential to the continued success of mydeco is a skilled front end developer to keep us looking slick. This is a great opportunity to join an exciting, fast growing business where you can immediately make a difference.

    Your essential areas of expertise will include:

  • Cross-browser HTML & CSS development experience

  • Intermediate to expert JavaScript skills

    Your desired areas of experience will include:

  • Writing code that pulls in dynamic content from a CMS, in addition to static page design
  • Experience of Django

  • Experience of Mercurial

  • Experience of Flash
  • Experience with Photoshop

Community Manager

Have you got hundreds of facebook friends, an affection for YouTube and loads of mates on myspace? We’re looking for community manager to build and moderate the mydeco community and help integrate it across the website.

Your key areas of responsibility would cover:

  • Act as a 'brand evangelist' and increase participation within the community through word-of-mouth marketing, blogs and other social-networking platforms.

  • Represent mydeco and build its profile and relationships on external web sites

  • Monitor the community and act as the mydeco ‘customer champion’ to the business – deal with user feedback and complaints and promote the development of new functionality to meet user needs

  • Raise the profile and engagement of the community across the mydeco website


You’ll be an enthusiastic participant in a variety of online communities and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. An interest in interior design is a distinct advantage and experience in managing an online community is preferred.

Classification Analyst Interns

We're looking for two classification analyst interns to support our search team. If you're interested in learning how online 'search' works and are keen to taste life in a fast-paced internet start-up, this could be an ideal stepping stone.

    Your key areas of responsibility would cover:

  • Supporting mydeco classification hierarchy – including inputting data into categories
  • Providing classification hierarchy maintenance – adding key phrases to improve search results
  • Adding synonyms into classification hierarchy relating to key searches on mydeco.com
  • Evaluating and maintaining strength of categories using the classification application

An interest in home furnishings would be preferred, alongside an attention to detail and basic understanding of classification/taxonomy. If you're passionate about getting things right the first time, then please send a CV and cover letter to jobs@mydeco.com.



Community Intern

We're looking for a bright and enthusiastic intern to help moderate and engage with mydeco's community.

    Your key areas of responsibility would cover:

    • Interacting with real users in the community, responding to their feedback and answering their questions.
    • Monitoring the community, keeping track of what people are talking about and feeding it back to the business

    • You'll be an engaging writer with a genuine interest in shopping and/or home design. A journalism or English background and an interest in online communities would be ideal. You'll be familiar with PCs and the internet and most importantly, you'll be enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing.

      Design Internship Programme >

      mydeco's three month internship placements are highly sought by creative graduates looking to gain unique experience in an online environment. You'll create 3D rooms and build room collections around seasonal themes, as well as contributing to mydeco's rapidly expanding design boutique.

        Your key areas of responsibility would cover:

      • Working to a brief for interior schemes built using the mydeco 3D Complete Room Planner tool
      • Researching and sourcing independent designers and styles to appear on the website
      • Sourcing images to build sections
      • Selecting products for trend stories and editorial themes
      • Updating content in design sections on a daily basis using Content Management Systems (CMS)
      • Working with retailers to build looks around current collections and seasonal themes
      • Creating designer profiles each week to tie into style deadlines
      • Reporting on high street design, interior shows and new designers and sharing information with the team



      Editorial Internship Programme>

      mydeco's three month editorial internship is a great opportunity for a budding journalist keen to broaden his/ her knowledge of online magazines and the interior market.

        Your key areas of responsibility would cover:

      • Researching and writing articles
      • Sourcing images from PR agencies
      • Uploading articles in CMS
      • Contributing ideas to features meetings
      • Sourcing and researching video on websites
