I prefer keeping things simple - curtain poles aren't noticed as much as people think.

Most importantly, you should buy what you like. I tend to keep curtain poles simple and place more emphasis on the curtains instead. Fussy curtains need plain poles and plain curtains look very chic on plain poles. Either way, plain and simple always wins for me.

aggree with other replies. the trend is moving away from the tab top look where the pole is emphasissed and moving to the more old fasnioned hidden types where the curtain is the main event
