do you buy furniture online?

Would you buy furniture online without visiting a store to check it out first?

I bought a sofa online recently and was pleased but realised it was a gamble as hadn't seen/touched/sat on material, I was wondering if others do this?

Cheers Nick

The truth is that retailers have to get the best ROI out of their floorspace, meaning that a lot of the 'internet' exclusives you'd never see in the shop. For this resaon you will get better deals online. The other thing the internet gives is the ability to scour hundreds of shops in one search. Saves clumping up and down the high street. It's interesting that one of the biggest seller of sofas in the UK is Argos.. and buying from a catalogue is sort of the same thing.
Maybe the best solution is to search for your perfect product on the internet, see if its in a shop, if its convenient go check it out in the shop, then either buy it there and then or see if the internet price was cheaper (if often is..)

I think 10% of all furniture in the USA is bought online. A good indication of the possibility.

I think you should only buy online if you are 100% confident and sure about it.

I think you'd feel better if you atually saw it but its up to you.

    Good Luck :)

I make a point of looking for antiques online. You can find real character pieces that otherwise couldn't get hold of.

I recently bought a TV cabinet online without seeing it first. The simple fact was that I was able search a lot of retailers online, and then could make a more informed decision than trying just a few shops on the high street. And the price was better!
I also bought 2 armchairs recently, searched online, found some, went to look at them in the shop, carried on shopping to see if the high street had anything else, and then came home, bottle of beer, and ordered them from my front room - perfect.

i would first buy something small from the shop to see if they were ok and delivered on time. then if they kept their promises i would look to buy something bigger.

I saw my sofa online and fell in love with it online. So much so that went i went to ilva to see it in real life i was suprised as it looked different! I wasn't sure but was persuaded by my husband and got it anyway and i really do love it again now. A lot of places give fabric samples though so not too risky.

Got my bedroom furniture from the homebase catalouge and had seen it in store (but not in the colour i wanted). But it was great - and works out cheaper often.

    So yes - I WOULD!
