    How small is the room?
Under the bed is the obvious one, either a divan with drawers or boxes/baskets under a bed frame. Ikea has great hnging net thing to put cuddly toys in but it does need fixing to the ceiling, preferably to the joist above.
I got a slim, tall chest of drawers for my daughters room and painted it pink.
Archive boxes are sturdy and reasonably priced and they have a snug fitting lid. You could cover them with nice wallpaper to brighten them up.Shoe boxes could work in the same way.
A peg rail with drawstring bags is good for socks and undies or small toys.
I'll keep thinking and looking for ideas.Could you post a photo to give more idea of the dimensions?
    Good luck,Maggs

Use this as a time for renewal, keep only what you use and really need, find someone to scan all of your favorite recipes to your computer, easier said than done, lol. I have also had to make many changes over the yrs, resisted getting rid of things, this had sentimental reasons, that was from, an excuse to keep everything, but being forced too, in my amazement,a weight was lifted, a sigh of relief. As I get older, I realize how much I really need and use, very little. I don't have children, so maybe I don't know what Im talking about, lol. It will all turn out OK, you'll see.

maggs had some great ideas for you. i have one. in addition to her ideas, have a shelf built about 12-14 inches from the ceiling either on one wall, two walls or all four walls! a great place to display books, dolls, toys that she does not presently play with or read. also can use attractive storage boxes to store out of season clothes, etc. and put on shelf.

I've posted a photo of my daughters bedroom to show you the slimline chest of drawers that I bought from Argos and painted pink. It holds a surprising amount really.
The photo is in the portfolio section of my profile.
