What would be the best idea for putting a fence around a tree? Should we just make the fence line go in a little half circle when it gets to the tree? or should we just run the chain link right over the tree trunk?

i am interested to know why you want to put a fence around a tree? ? can't you just leave the tree as a natural part of the fence as it were? is the tree on your land or a neighbours? who's tree is it?

the tree is on my property. The fence is already there though. the previous owners just put the chain link right on the tree, but right after the tree it changes to privacy fencing and there is a small gap between the two. We are trying to figure out if we should just fill that gap, or if we should move a part of the fence to go around the tree. I can't decide if that would look silly or not

ok yeah. that looks really cool.
i would still need to run the fence up beside the tree to keep the dogs in, but it would not have to run over it, it could just go up to the side of the tree. thank you very much!
