a pale/ cream luxurious rug in the living room on a fine polished or laminate floor, with bold and funky light fittings, perhaps with a touch of 70's glamour (Habitat might fit the bill)
an exotic OTT mirror would also add space and enlarge the room artificially,
make the feature wall red to match the curtains and the rest cream.
