A traditional shyrdak rug made entirely by hand by the nomadic rug makers of the Tien Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia.

The rug consists of a decorated surface layer of interlocking felt shapes sewn through to a thick felt base.

All natural, un-dyed, light grey and dark brown wool felt are combined in the centre panel, with natural white and dark brown wool felt combined in the zig-zag border (denoting 'mountain range').

Colour is introduced through braiding in red, green, orange and pink wool.
