Boutique Design

Boutique Design was founded in 2004 after 15 years experience in Interior Design, ranging from Hotel and Spa design to residential projects.

I previously worked for the Architectural firm of Wimberly, Allison, Tong & Goo founding the new Interior Design Department. During this time we completed projects all around the world from South East Asia to Egypt and Dubai to many European countries.

I also gained great experience working in Asia in Singapore for H.L Lim & Associates for four years working on Banyan Tree hotels amongst other projects. This also started my interest in landscape design as so many projects were of an inside/outside variety.

This knowledge of different culture and style has been invaluable towards offering our clients innovative as well as quality of design and costing value. Also to have seen many projects from initial concept to full completion acts as a stepping-stone to the development of future works.

Over the years we have developed, to coin a phrase ‘every trick of the trade’ in providing our clients with an aesthetic and quality level higher than the budget might first expect. We have a fully operational team working with us and have sub-consultants that we have worked with for many years to cover for example, architectural and structural needs. As of the beginning of January we have a Landscape Designer who has joined us.

We mainly undertake Residential work but still work with hotel Interior Designers for concept work and presentations. We also work alongside Property Developers across the country as consultants.

We are currently working on projects in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Cadogan Square, London, Villars, Switzerland and St Jean de la Blaquiere, South of France.

Top Design Tips

A New Start

Start with a blank canvas so that the actual space is understood

Planning Your Space

Write down your wishes/uses for each area or room from either a practical family living point of view or perhaps a glamorous entertaining angle.

Lighting

Start building in what lighting you would like, this can be decided along side any specific or loved items, for example a favourite piece of artwork or sculpture/ornament etc. Don't forget about mundane or seemingly practical areas such as staircases which can have fretwork backlit for the stair risers, or a frosted glass door to a utility or cloakroom, this with inset floor or wall lighting behind provided interesting additional lighting.

Make the most of your Space

Use every corner. A forgotten corner under the stairs or old coal shuttle can be tiled on the floor, painted a deep wine colour with inset floor lighting and a clear glass door and turned into a fabulous wine cellar!

Gardens are an extension of the Interior.

Provide an extended focal point out into the garden with lighting/water/sculpture. Skim brick walls with a soft interior stone colour and hang really large mirrors with teak wood frames. Huge lanterns filled with candles and a handy supply of brightly coloured Chinese paper lanterns to hang in trees on a summers day.
