  • About CHRISTINE CAMERON WILLIAMS

Building the interior design world of www.boandjangles.com is an exacting, exciting and all consuming challenge. One short year ago, my friend, Diane Brooks and I named the company after the family puppy; now a reckless springer spaniel teenager.
The highlights of the year have been unbelievable.
Bo & Jangles featured on three BBC1 Homes Live programmes
and so much more is on the horizon!

  • Bo & Jangles: Saturday: Exhibition.

7.00 Wake and fall asleep again. 8.30 Wander around the garden with mug of coffee, dressing gown belted and plants tended. 9.30 Wax hair, load car with Birthday Boy instructions and set forth. 10.00 Arrive Art Exhibition house to complete in one hour: in my dreams. 10.30 Meet Sue Allsopp, from Pure Equator Design Consultants, at the Exhibition. Conversation overflowing with ideas. Talk all about the Princess and The Castle and The Spaceman and The World and Bubble Babies is forgotten. 11.00 Birthday Boy says the glass shelf he is fitting is not fitting and I am so engrossed in conversation with Sue that I seemingly nod and the shelf is fitted in the wrong place. 12.00 Sue helps me tackle the Gold Fabric Embroidered Wall. Frame glued in place, by me, yesterday. 12.03 The frame falls apart. 12.30 Diane and her friend Steve arrives and Sue leaves. 13.00 Temper is withheld slightly. Visit the Handicentre for the millionth time. Parking the car is the trial. Handicentre believe I am more »

  • Bo & Jangles. Tuesday. Knightsbridge and Icon.

9.55 Grantham train to London. With seats, sandwiches and muffled mobiles, Diane and I travel to Kings Cross leaving Lindsey in the office fielding calls and Bo. 11.10 Follow the underground trail to South Kensington. Sun shining, coffee hot and we cannot believe we are ahead of time. 12.25 Ring the bell, follow directions to a lift which requires two woman power to open. Forget to close the outer door and momentarily stuck. 12.30 Arrive at 6th Floor to be greeted by client, client's son, architect, builder and a chap whose position has still not been identified. 12.40 On the roof which is fortunately flat. Great view. Great roof. 13.00 Click, fire and flash each room for posterity. Loads of chat, ideas, possibilities and impossibilites left for another day. 15.30 Back to the dark, heat and too many people before we surface to find our train waiting and ready to go. 17.30 Quick catch up with Lindsey in the office and fast and furious game with Bo before meeting Diane in more »

  • Bo & Jangles Not So Confused

I spent some time this weekend aiming to capture on film the essence of the art that Bo & Jangles has on display at the exhibition for a national house builder. I aimed and fired so often that the little memory card became confused, over loaded, unco-operative and eventually gave up recording completely even when offered  juice and an extra long break. So much confusion is happening. Birthday Boy, when asked his honest opinion on the exhibition, gave it, which is not what was required or anticipated. His opinion goes along the lines of why have we turned a home into an art gallery? His opinion is that the visiting public are expecting a show home where they can visualise themselves living. So I had to counter argue. How many show homes are on the market just now? What differentiates one house from another where even cost comparisons and special offers usually compare to the penny? Why not display the wealth of talent that is unsung locally and combine the opportunity to buy a home and more »

  • Bo & Jangles Lost And Found on Mydeco.

Lindsey has been very busy today and left me exhausted. We had a request, a few weeks ago, from a researcher for a new TV programme for copy of our work for BBC1. Big problem is that in the re organisation of our office the original copies of the programmes were lost. So we called  BBC1 and the wonderful person responsible for offering further copies was going on holiday for two weeks. Gavin is now back, very relaxed, copies have arrived and we think Gavin has done fantastically well digging out the footage. Lindsey has tirelessly gone through the programmes and marked all the chapters where we appear and she is burning copies tonight ,as we dare not lose these again, and sending a letter with all relevant parts marked, to save the researcher a life time of searching. Magically the new TV programme researcher still wants to see the footage. So tomorrow the little discs will be winging their way to London. And the reason for my exhaustion is having to watch snatches of us on TV which I more »

  • Bo & Jangles Makes Pictures Do The Talking

Weather great; so massive time spent outdoors and The Princess and The Castle stayed on holiday with Architect Stratus.  Spoke to Birthday Boy about having a greenhouse and entering Homebase found the perfect greenhouse for £20. I agree it was sold as a BBQ, without the gas, but immediately it was love and the perfect and probably only BBQ that now grows food instead of killing it. Check out my pictures and see what you think. Of course it moves like a BBQ. So too much sun and I can move it to shade and it has a nifty little shelf for potting up the plants. And talking about pictures I have added one of the tree iron grids which are now a raised vegetable bed of tempting fare for the pigeons. And of course I had to make the mirror for the exhibition next week. So no explanations in words, just lots of pictures. I think I may have got carried away but I was fascinated with the play of the garden and the sun on the lines of the mirror. The thought process behind the mirror is more »

  • Bo & Jangles Exhibition On The Horizon

Our year long exhibition is looming large and due to kick off on June 16 with a national housebuilder. Forty artists, from predominantly the East Midlands area, will be represented. This has been a huge challenge and we have enjoyed every minute. From glass, to oils, from furniture design to jewellery and costume, designers and artists have been been most gracious with their time and work. Diane is sending me a definitive list of all the people involved with the project and I will blog over the weekend about the artists who have kindly loaned their work to us for this epic show. We will follow up with pictures of their work after the opening. This is truly inspirational art from the East Midlands and beyond. My task for the weekend is to produce a bespoke mirror for the master bedroom for the project above. Today I have ordered the backing and collected the cut glass pieces from a Nottingham glass company and tomorrow, with the help of glass adhesive, PVA, paint and a thought in my more »

  • BO & JANGLES IN PRINT

Innocence is such bliss. Last week an acqaintance called from the local newspaper and invited me to lunch. How rude to say I was too busy. How flattering to be asked. And I could choose the restaurant. This was sounding better and better and food figures too large in my life. As I mentioned in a previous blog, I was late with no make up and the reporter was not my acquaintance.  Now the entire thing is in print, three quarters of a page in the business section, with a picture.  Judging by the red marks, shown in black and white,  blotted across my neck, I was in an stressed state. I admit the photographer did keep flashing, the camera, but I cannot believe that was the best he could manage. I feel the pilates classes, the dentist, the hairdresser and less supper coming on. It appears that everyone in the area with a few pence to spend on a copy now know my age, what I ate and drank for lunch, goat's cheese tartlet with salad and hot water, when I married, what Birthday Boy does for a more »

  • BO & JANGLES GOES A DEEPER SHADE OF GREEN

Bo and Jangles keeps getting greener. All of our bespoke furniture is produced in the UK. From the handcrafted new wood chair, sofa and chaise frames, to the upholstery, to the high tech laminated art work, to the hand finished window treatments, to the hand finished cushions, to the Bo & Jangles printed fabrics and bean cushions. And then we take antique furniture into another century. Using a multitude of techniques, the resulting pieces have more edge, more relevance and wit for today's homes. This is design and recycling working in a dream partnership. The trends of today are the repeatable buy one get one free. Our excitement comes from taking a faded classic through the extreme make over journey. The result is not wall to wall magnolia. The result is an object of cool sophistication, looking for adventure and an owner not afraid of expression.  And yes, we are practising the greener art in our private lives. Diane is planting veg and herbs for a small town. Lindsay is eating more »

  • Bo and Jangles Birthday Girl

Getting so excited, even the Birthday Boy, who telephoned me during the day, said my voice sounded perky. Lindsay suffered my gibberish, lack of sentences and sense. And tonight, I could not believe it, but I found that Diane had a birthday, all day, which I have not marked.  So now we have a Birthday Girl, and a wonderful friend, who I have neglected. So tomorrow I really have to get my act together. The celebration will have to extend to forty eight hours rather than the ordinary twenty four and somehow I will have to make the forgotten moments count for a little longer.  The reason for the frantic day was the telephone ringing constantly, the fax machine trying to out do the telephone, the mobile burbling and then someone I called this afternoon asked if I had not read their text sent at 9am and no, we did not forget the emails, just the text messages. Personally I think we have too many means of communication which leads to too little time to think of anything apart from servicing more »
