Building the interior design world of www.boandjangles.com is an exacting, exciting and all consuming challenge. One short year ago, my friend, Diane Brooks and I named the company after the family puppy; now a reckless springer spaniel teenager.
The highlights of the year have been unbelievable.
Bo & Jangles featured on three BBC1 Homes Live programmes
and so much more is on the horizon!

Bo & Jangles Not So Confused

I spent some time this weekend aiming to capture on film the essence of the art that Bo & Jangles has on display at the exhibition for a national house builder. I aimed and fired so often that the little memory card became confused, over loaded, unco-operative and eventually gave up recording completely even when offered  juice and an extra long break.

So much confusion is happening. Birthday Boy, when asked his honest opinion on the exhibition, gave it, which is not what was required or anticipated. His opinion goes along the lines of why have we turned a home into an art gallery? His opinion is that the visiting public are expecting a show home where they can visualise themselves living.

So I had to counter argue. How many show homes are on the market just now? What differentiates one house from another where even cost comparisons and special offers usually compare to the penny? Why not display the wealth of talent that is unsung locally and combine the opportunity to buy a home and have the opportunity to consider commissioning bespoke furnishings and original art? So often the concept of commissioning furniture or purchasing art is considered to belong to the strange world of the super rich but the reality is that the costs are not necessarily much more than a high street store and often directly compare.

Art and bespoke furniture is one way to give a home a personality all of its own. Who has not walked through a door and gasped in admiration when confronted with an interior space which shows originality and style?

I must admit the speech to Birthday Boy was very long and passionate and  eventually he generously agreed that we had obviously thought through our aims in great detail.

Not sure that is a good conclusion to the conversation which was mostly a female monologue. If our aims were detailed then how come he did not see the aim?

On Wednesday we will complete the installation and then we will see how well the concept is received. The exhibits are beautiful. The work has soul so how can it fail?

Diane and I anticipate, that against all current trends, there will be a rush to place deposits on the new houses and the area will become known for the most original, personalised homes in the UK with all local artists working flat out to satisfy demand.

I think we might have already started. One chap, who has already committed to a house, asked us to visit him next week with fabric swatches and he said his two year old little girl would love The Princess and The Castle screen board.

I can see Birthday Boy is going to suffer more monologues in the near future.

What do you think?
