.30 Left house with Bo Jangles in the car, which he does not like, but with bed in back seat for comfort, plenty of towels in case of illness and water and bowl, this was the best I could offer and I must admit it looked comfortable.
.30 Collected Diane from her home.
.30 Arrived at client's house near Derby. Kitchen fantastic and ongoing. Builder stuck but we suggest a concrete lintel. Carpenter sorted with new door and window. Plumber on hold as the walnut cabinet for the toilet is not walnut. Electrician wandering around and has to be re focused.
.30 Set off through the lanes of Derbyshire.
.00 Meet amazing craftsman. His designs reflect the character of each client. His individually crafted pieces tell the story in wood. Each chair moves with the body. The word edgy should have been invented to describe the movement of the furniture; comfortable but breathing with the body. The portfolio is awe inspiring. We are visiting again next week and will incorporate the work in the National Housebuilder project. Time stands still as we realise the thought process that has produced each individual piece.
.15 Walk Bo Jangles in car park and eat sandwich.
.30 Meet another incredible artist in Sainsbury car park in Matlock. Within minutes we have water colours, amusing, witty and skilled on the tarmac. The sun is shining. This is a person who has been painting for forty years with ideas, characters and passion. The portfolio is poured over and the conversation is fast and furious with expectation on both sides. Paintings packed in car to be transported for display at the Gallery House. Bo Jangles loses his seat and ends up on the floor.
.00 A circuitous route back to Derby Client. I think it is called 'lost' due to Diane the map reader, a dying art, takes calls from a client with a flooded flat. The culprit is a dishwasher. Water ingress has affected four flats below. Water vacuums are placed, plumber is called, a new temporary home is found and insurance company is called. And with a few twists and turns we find Derby Client house again.
.00 Leave electrician with instructions. Leave builder with new door instructions and note the lintel is now in place. Leave kitchen fitter happy and, apart from a grey dust which permeates from all corners, we leave happy too.
.30 Bo Jangles is now sitting on Diane's knee due to the car being full of paintings but he seems happy with all the stops and new friends that he has made throughout the day including horses in the field adjacent to Derby Client.
.30 Diane fields calls and catches up with messages.
.30 Arrive home and Bo Jangles bounds around the garden. Food is offered and it barely touches the bowl.
.00 I check emails and voicemails and return calls and thank my nephew, Peter, who has just left school, with a prestigious prise, for his new life at Edinburgh University. Peter has galvanised his friends to support us on 'The One to Watch'. I suggest he joins Mydeco and I do hope PR and Marketing figure in his plans. Had a chat with electrician's boss and we agree to cap expenses.
.22 Start the blog for the evening interspersed with calls.
I must admit this is a very brief synopsis but what a fabulous way to live the day, problems and all. Tomorrow, as every day, we hope to be back on track and in more control. Lindsay is with us in the morning and so our hope is not unfounded.
