As it is coming closer to the end of the competition everyone seems desperate to muster up those last votes that could make all the difference. I have been pestering university and facebook friends in the hope that my work may be seen by those who practically control the industry. Please keep voting!

  • National Glass Centre

In an earlier blog I mentioned that I had been asked to exhibit work at the National Glass Centre's future exhibition 'Beautifully Crafted' after my work was seen in Crafts magazine. The exhibiton runs from 25th October 2008 to 22nd February 2009. It is at the centre in Sunderland however it may also tour around the country. I have been working hard on preparing the pieces, I am exhibiting 9 in total all from the Habitat Collection. I would love it if you all would come along, I'll write another post nearer the time!

  • Working at Sharon Marston's Studio

I have just finished my internship at Sharon Marston's. The 4 week placement was a great opportunity to work within the studio a become a real team member. We were largely preparing for Maison Objet, her chandeliers are such statement pieces and renowned internationally that it was so interesting to take part in every aspect of creating the lights.

  • Society of Designer Craftsmen

While at New Designers I had an interview with a panel member from the Society of Designer Craftsmen. Just a couple of days ago I recieved an invitation to join the society as a result of the interview. I am very pleased about this as it is a great method of publicity as well as providing the opportunity to exhibit at their exhibition at the Mall Galleries.

  • Graduation

I have just found out that I have successfully graduated, I have been so thrilled to see that all the hard graft payed off and my marks were high. New designers is also over so I have time for a little rest before continuing with my design work. The National Glass Centre will be taking my Habitat Collection for their 'Beautifully Crafted' exhibtion that starts in October and lasts for 5 months. I was really quite surprised to hear that they were wanted for a gallery as they were not designed with this in mind. So I am now pushing on with the more commercially viable designs, mainly the lighting, with vases and cushions. My internship with Sharon Marston is in a couple of weeks so I am looking forward to starting there and learning as much as I can. From someone whose work I admire so much.

  • Normality

Since my Tex Print interview yesterday, everything seems normal again (normal I think relates to pre-degree years!). I recieved some pretty useful feedback from the panel so I will wait to see how it went. Im working at the shop tomorrow, so perhaps emersing myself in other peoples interior design worries will help! Now I guess the next issue is New Designers...

Im currently stressing about the TexPrint competition of which I have been nominated for, my interview is next week so my portfolio preparations are fully underway. As my degree show is still on there seems far too much to do! - Any advice?

  • The Show

So my private view was last night, not really recovered but I think it went well. Way more preparation than I hade expected, so I guess New Designers will be even more frantic! My work seemed to be recieved well, compliments and toddlers trying to put my nests in their mouths - so good I think.
