Hi everybody, been run off my feet over the last few weeks, but things are slowing down abit now.
I had a new cliant call on me last week, he was looking for a coffee table that will light up, I have seen them on the Web, but what they never show is the wire to the plug socket trailing on the floor, as this is a big problem unless you are lucky and have a socket in the middle of your floor, when I said something about this, the new customer said he had never given that much thought, but he could see the problem, I asked him why he needed a light-up table, he replied it was just for design in the room, after this I desided to show him something I have been working on for a month or two, it had nothing to do with coffee tables, but when he saw it he could not beliave his eyes, what I had shown him was a carving, that lights up and there is no power to it, so no wire needed, he asked how did it work, well I said at this moment this is a trade secret, but I told him a few things, like it will light up if it as as little as one minute of day-light for about one hour and it will light up for upto 8 hours if it as more, it will also work if you just have the room light on for half-hour or so but it will only light up for a few hours before it starts to go dimmer, when fully charged if you place it about six inches away from the wall it lights the wall up.
I was only thinking about my carvings lighting up when I started playing with it, but with the price of electric going up all the time, I am woulding as to where else it could be used, one being glass fronted cabinets to light the inside up, one more shop window displays lighting up for free at night, it is realy endless, lets have your in-put on this one please.
Anyway getting back to the customers light-up coffee table, he asked me how long in time will it keep lighting up, I told him I have been told by the company I am working with, it is expected to last for forty years or more, it is also no-toxic as it is made from new earth materials, it comes in differant colours when lighting up but it is all white when in daylight or when you have the room light on, but the yellow-green lights for longer, it it being develuped for the white lines on motorways and runways at airports just think how meny light bulbs you would have used it that time, anyway he was so pleased with the idea he give me the design he liked, I give him a qoute for making it for him with the light up finish, he ordered it and paid the deposit there and then, he will be the first in the world with one of these, I must say that the finish is very expensive, but all things new are, but over forty years it will pay for it'self in no time.
Hope you found this of interest, please leave your comments. Grant.
