My most extravagant purchase was...
I have just found a new passion with MyDeco. I'm in the middle of a distance learning Diploma and this is website is great except that I spend too much time on this and not enough doing my projects.
I have a very eclectic style, though balance and symmetry are very important to me and I often adopt the principles of Feng Shui in my room designs.
Fancy myself as a home stager, perhaps one day?
Small spaces - kitchen
If you have a small kitchen, wherever possible don't position eye level cabinets on the wall opposite the door. When I designed my small kitchen just 8ft wide by 6ft deep with the door in the middle of the 8ft wall, I placed eye level cabinets on the walls either side of the door and left the wall facing the door free of cupboards and shelves. As the cabinets were running down the side of the room, it tricked the eye into believing they were longer than just a mere 6'. Planning it this way meant I didn't loose any depth from the room. Placing a large picture on the wall added to a sense of perspective with its light reflecting quailities opening up the room.
I used a cool receding colour on this wall to add to the trickery. Hope this is of some use x
