Hi there KK Designs,
I'm sure Tricia Guild's book/s on colour is impressive, however, After having studied colour pretty extensively at an advance level, you know finding inspiration, the use of colour, which colours go with what, colour psychology, colour proportions etc etc etc...
I feel that there is no book out there that could resolve your colour dilemas. Here are just some of the fundamental factors affecting a designers choice of colour, For example, we cannot see colour without light therefore you should consider the light levels entering the room. The size & shape of the room, here again colour can be used to visually alter the proportions of a room. Use of furniture, Certain fabrics, textures & surfaces absorb or reflect light, So black velvet in a dark room will absorb up to 95% of the light that hit it...
Without going into too much detail, no two rooms are exactly the same.
I hope I'm not sounding negative but believe me, I've purchased many books from RIBA & it's worth nothing to me now. Probably because my choice of colour/s is and will always be a calculated choice.
