Kirstie Allsopp

Kirsty was educated at St Clotilde, Lechlade in Gloucestershire and then Bedales School, near Petersfield, Hampshire. After spending time in India teaching English Language, Allsopp returned to the UK and began a series of positions, working for Country Living and Food & Homes Magazines, which helped her develop a wealth of experience within the interior design field. After three years she made the unusual move from editorial into advertising and sold classified advertising space for country living and other publications.

Kirstie took a year out to do Christies history of art course during this period. She sold her first flat which she bought aged 21 in Battersea and bought a second flat, which was a total wreck off Ladbroke grove. So she now had two refurbishments under her belt by the age of 25.

Allsopp's extensive knowledge of London, housing, architecture and a real insight into what works and what doesn’t in living space and layout. Following some positive press she was approached to put together a property show for channel 4 and although initially working behind the cameras, Kirstie ended up being paired with Phil Spencer or Garrington Home finders and 9 years later Location Location, Location and Relocation, Relocation average over 4 million viewers and is one of the most popular shows on Channel 4. Kirstie has now travelled the length and breadth of the country doing on television exactly what she originally did in London for private clients and widening her knowledge of housing within the UK.

Few people can have seen the inside of so many British homes of every size and date and millions of viewers are familiar with her down to earth and advice and hard-nosed negotiation tactics.

You are not going to find Kirstie kayaking up the Orinoco. The only passion she has unrelated to design is an addiction to the West wing and the Archers and a passionate interest in politics, particularly as it relates to the way we buy and sell houses in the UK and her campaign against the governments home information pack.
