British and proud!!

If there is one thing that the world is lacking these days its good old British designed and manufactured furniture.

Does anyone actually want the furniture that they buy in from abroad at hugely discounted prices to last longer than an episode of Eastenders?  Cheap labour is killing our industry.  Bring back fabulously made furniture!

When exhibiting at last months Interiors Birmingham show, I was amazed to see the lack of British born furniture, and even more amazed to hear so many people talk about it!

If you want to see some stunning British manufactered contemporary furniture visit www.isu-uk.com

What do you think?

I completely agree, one day we are just going to be completely cut off and we will be stuck!

Furniture prices are rising in the far east now, so soon there will be no benefit of suppliers outside the uk.

I must agree, we have the same in the tiling industry, although some imports are good quality and only imported as there simply isn't any where in the UK some tile sizes of certain materials can be made - cheap, poor quality imported equivalents are not the way forward or are going to help us, long term in the UK!

Yes totaly agree, I was talking just last week too some ex-british furniture makers, they where telling me it was cheaper to import as they cannot compete with the imports,as they where always being asked to reduce there prices as the retailers where saying they could get it cheaper from China,I must admit I get this sometimes, but they say to me "you have to remember you are competing with the imports" but I reply,I do not compete with anybody if you want my products that is the price" they normaly pay the asking price, but it is hard out there, one thing I have noticed is the retail prices are the same in a lot of cases. One thing I say also is well if you don't want to sell my stuff, I will sell it on the internet, and this in the end will put you out of business, retailers have to take this on board,we have bullets to fire at them also, all my products have a swing-ticket on them saying "THIS PRODUCT WAS MADE BY A BRITISH CRAFTSMAN WORKING FOR BRITAIN",with a Union Jack on it.
