Alice in Wonderland
Also at Birmingham Interiors I did an interview with a very switched on & interesting speaker, Victoria Renshaw, Trend Forecaster for Scarlet Opus, specialising in trends for the home/interiors. She gave an overview of her industry, in a seminar which was packed with student, designers & industry specialists all wanting to get an insight into her crystal ball!
She talked about organic design, womanly shapes, & one of my fav trends to emerge in recent months, the oversize, Alice in Wonderland feel, larger than life, almost enchanted. The stand she said encapsulated this - Christopher Guy www.christopherguy.com. Their 2008 stand was fabulous for it's use of subtle burnished metallics, & in 2009 they were ahead of the pack again with huge statement pieces, glamorous, sexy & magical.
The tables looked like they could scurry away if they didn't like your company, the mirrors dwarfed my reflection (look closely at the bottom) & the chair left my feet dangling in mid air (ok I'm short!)
