Birmingham Interiors; Young Designer 2009
Cabinet Maker magazine sponsored the above & I had a chat with some of the entrants.
Soft Furnishings winner Amy Vinn explained how she works from words, & was searching for a design for the phrase It Takes All Sorts. The idea hit her like a sledgehammer, as it was so glaringly obvious, yet no-one had ever done it before. Bassetts have been in touch for commissions for Bertie's house, apparently (I kid you not).

Limahl Asmall's Nest Table received much press, with its delicate yet sturdy design full of innovation & fun. The ends are tipped in gold, for extra sexiness. This piece came about by accident; playing with a pile of sticks one day, he formed a table without really thinking about it, & this fabulous design was born. I'd like one in yew... may have to save up for a commission!

My final 2:
Anne Schiffer's "Cheese' - a toy for life, jointly a table & a marble run, interaction & design working perfectly -

Tim Harrison's Fruit : a flexless lamp which turns on when placed on its doilie!
