Silicone sealing a shower unit

You learn something new every day. Whenever I have a shower cubicle fitted, I always do my own sealing with silicone & gun, and have always sealed on the inside too. BIG NO NO. Apparently, this blocks the water into the shower unit and makes it go rank and smelly and generally quite revolting. Only seal around the outside, tile to unit and tray to unit, never on the inside. Blimey, guess i'll have to get my stanley knife out and go round taking all those strips of silicone off now!
