About Squint
Squint is a London based bespoke furniture design studio which retails in London, Hong Kong, New York and Seoul and was started in February 2005 by designer Lisa Whatmough.
Squint
Her vision was to incorporate the best of British manufacturing with a contemporary twist, a desire for decadent, tactile, beautiful one off pieces of furniture which pay homage to the best interiors from history.
As Squint has grown it now makes to order, by hand, in the north of England, classical British designs upholstered traditionally. The range includes all forms of upholstery as well as lighting, mirrors and accessories. Fabrics used are both a mix of antique and current design making each piece truly unique, recent furniture and installation collaborations include Swarovski, Liberty, Designers Guild, Lane Crawford, J.Roaman, Barneys New York and the AADesign Museum in Seoul.
Re colour schemes always look to your furniture and beloved objects for inspiration, paint and wallpapers get changed every few years and hectic, fashionable designs wear thin after a while whereas good quality furniture will be with you for life.
Hold off buying everything but the basics in one go, add key pieces over time and get used to how they look and feel, a home is created out of layers of items and objects and personal history and introducing each new thing should be exciting.
