The chair of your dreams

As I sit here munching my lunch, I have started pondering what would be the chair of your dreams? some people may like a gadget laden future tech monster that is perhaps an extension of Joey's la-z-boy. Others may like a super stylish design reminiscent of a Jimmy Choo in the best silk velvet money can buy.

I often ponder these things, as unless you don't know, I design and make chairs. (see www.stevenbiddulph.com)

Has the chair of your dreams already been produced? are you nurturing a cash fund to buy it? or is it cheap and plentiful?  Does the world need another chair?

So many questions, tell me what you think.

Sit comfortably.

Steven.

What do you think?

what about a chair that wasn't there...?!

I find rocking chairs uncontrollably relaxing. So I'd love a really comfortable rocking chair that comes equipped with a back massager :)

I'm thinking oversized winged library chair in deep blue or purple velvet. Big enough that your feet don't touch the floor and you can curl up with a book in mounds of cushions and feel you can hide there.

It has to be an oversized chair that could fit two but I would have it to myself. It should mould around your shape like a bean bag does but be way more stylish - a bit like sitting on a cloud. Oh, and it must have somewhere to hold that big bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk!! Bliss!

I'd love the 'Cite' armchair by Jean Prouve-I love the use of steel and leather and its sculptural shape.
Or a vintage leather DeSede modular chair in tobacco colour-one you just sink into and feel embraced by.

Interior designer must haves "GORGEOUS CHAIRS" but there's just so many you can have in one room. I say it's a personal thing very much like the type of shoes you'd wear & as the saying goes "you can judge a person by their style of shoes" I think the same goes with chairs. My obsession by the way, I even have a mug with images of period style chairs. If I could choose not 1 but 3, they would be:
A big old comfy distressed leather arm chair in classic brown. An original Rococo chair in cream silk and a funky reproduced Rococo arm chair in a metallic silver...

Nice blog, Keep em coming!!!

I'm with Maggs as far as sitting comfortably goes. She's described what I was imagining almost perfectly. My husband had one of those oversize beanbags during the worst of his M.E. and it really helped support his body, but they're not very stylish, and they splat all over the floor - can't think of another way to describe it!!
If I let my imagination fly, then I can imagine a very segmented chair, a bit like one of those puzzles where you twist and turn the pieces to make different shapes. Then you could change the chair to suit your sitting mood, e.g. upright for function, curved for sitting curled up, elongated for lounging. Actually, the more I imagine it the more cool it sounds - I'd have it in orange with a touchy-feely texture.
