Are you suffering with Render Pangs, Pains, or Panes? ****
Well here's my thoughts on the situation. (Who am I, you ask, to proffer my thoughts? Just a mydeco fan with over 300 rooms. Yes over 300, only 240+ are published. So anything you are experiencing, I have most likely encountered 3 to 30 times more often.) *****
It is give and take.****
1) I give you that the rendering problems are increasing again in the last 3 weeks, after having gotten better for about a month.
2) I give you that it is extremely frustrating to spend hours working on a room to see it bleached out, tinted red or dyed black in a moment of poor rendering.
3) I give you that mydeco management is slow (glacially slow) to respond in writing via email or blog post to concerns about rendering and other Room Planner glitches.
4) I give you that it seems we have waited forever for all the problems to be worked out. *****
Now give me. ****
1) Mydeco is still in beta testing, wait until they launch the "finished" version. And then take note that even mighty Microsoft is continually releasing updated "fixes" for their products which have been on the market for over 20 years now.
2) Mydeco is still free, wait until they launch the "commercial" version and you may have to pay for the fun, ideas, products, etc you find here. For every hour of pain rendering or otherwise I have experienced at mydeco, I have had 10-15 hours of free enjoyment. The only place you can get a better deal than that is to be a couch potato watching free TV.
3) Mydeco management and support team receive hundreds of feedback emails from their 30,000+ profile members and thousands of other users, probably less than 5% are congratulatory. It must be extremely disappointing to be a member of the mydeco team, working hard to provide a wonderful website and to get nothing but negative feedback. So it it not unreasonable (not fun, not enjoyable, not what we want, but certainly not unreasonable) for mydeco to only occasionally send out a notice letting us know what we really do already know:
THEY ARE STILL WORKING HARD TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS AND PLEASE BE PATIENT.
4) The economic crises in the world are growing---(The US government is bailing out entire industries now, not just a corporation or two) and there is no guarantee that mydeco is on sound financial footing or that it will be here tomorrow. I can only hope, even with all the flaws and glitches that they will be around for years to come! ****
I post the "Temporary solution" blogs as just that, a way to help us all negotiate a way around the glitches, until such time as they may be fixed. I have been frustrated and therefore rude and sarcastic in many blogs-----BUT I HAVE BEEN WRONG TO SO PUBLICLY VENT MY FRUSTRATION. In the discouragement of the moment, I have frequently lost sight of all the benefits and enjoyment I get from mydeco. *****
I am personally going to continue to send feedback to mydeco as I encounter problems, just in case they are not aware of them. And I am going to continue to ask and answer questions in the Q & A area on mydeco. But I am going to try to do my ranting, raving and frustration venting in private via messages to other members. (Feel free to message me with your rant!) Finally, I am going to try to just be thankful that I have access to a jewel of a website like mydeco!
Cheers and happy designing,
Sylvia

...just wanted to say, I respect you all the more for what you've just said :0) and I'm sure that Management will too. xxx
p.s. do you think I should re-release 'Ode to MyDeco Management'? (lol) If not for my thesis, I would've rustled up a Part2... ;0)

I do sympathise and I know rendering etc. can be a real pain - I'm just trying to take it in my stride. It is VERY frustrating at times but when the little spinny thing keeps going round - break out the GIN & TONIC! This will result in one of two things
a. You will be so high that you won't notice or you won't care
b. You wil look at things differently and get even more creative!

Release away, sophi! It can only brighten the day of the mydeco team to know they are appreciated. :)

They are such kind and lovely words, thank you!
Hopefully I will be able to respond to blog comments, questions and messages faster than they have been in the past, to make your mydeco experience all the more enjoyable, simple and relaxing.
Merry home making!
