Tara Bernerd, Chairman Target Living

Target Living is an interior architecture and design consultancy, established in 2002 by designers Tara Bernerd and Thomas Griem.

The consultancy focuses on interior architecture and space planning, with a portfolio which extends from property developments, art galleries, restaurants, casinos, bars and private homes.

The consultancy’s designers and architects combine creative flair with commercial sense. They understand how to configure functioning and desirable environments and how to add genuine value, all to budget.

Target’s role is to provide full architectural interior layouts, detailed finishes schedules, i.e. kitchen and bathroom solutions, covering all areas bringing you the visions and turning those visions into reality.

Target Living is working on a host of interesting schemes across Europe. These involve a mixture of long-term relationships and new clients.

Top Design Tips for Spring/Summer 2008

Planning the Space

It may seem obvious, but stop look and consider the space. From moving or redecorating the layout of a room is key. Check it’s not too cluttered and the scale and position of furniture.

Colour Schemes

Be careful not to throw in too many colours especially too many patterns and florals this spring. One great ‘staring’ colour will lead the show and the other colours or pattern sits with this.

Flooring

This is the drama of any home, going for wood, wide wood boards, white or oyster washed is timeless and fresh. If faced with lower budgets, I can’t get enough of Altro polished resin floors.

Walls

Keep them subtle, linen walls are great this year; head straight to stereo. Or edgier go lacquer. If you have an awkward wall, creating a feature makes such a punch. Take an image and see 55max.

Fabric

This year is all about bringing style outdoors. For furniture go to B&B Italia, also check out the Robert Spurway’s Sutherland outdoor collection. Donghia has such incredible outdoor fabrics from cool greys to outdoor leathers.

Favourite

Still love the Minx chair and Amy Somerville Scott’s collection. However, Poliform and B&B are looking great.

Lolli and Memoli are just incredible for lighting sensations and fabrics at Neisha Crosland, Donghia, Kravet and Lelievre are delicious.
