One of the joys of RSS feeds is that moment of anticipation as you wait to see if the incoming mesasge is going to be something to brighten your day. Or just another re-written Guardian article - why can't they just get it right first time ? ;)
And so it was this afternoon that the myhouseismycastle brought a real treat to my inbox: MuNiMulA.
This small Michigan based producer have some truly wonderful products; however, for me the best is UU22 Wine Tray. So simple yet so practical.
Updated "My favourite item of furniture is..." item again ... this time a little summer feeling with Thomas Sauvage's lounger for French producer ego.
I saw this a couple of weeks ago at an exhibition and was very impressed. It is as comfortable as it looks but for me the real beauty is the wooden element. Aside from a safe, secure place for your Martini, the wooden section at "foot height" means that a) no fabric gets wet and /or muddy and b) you have a secure, comortable place where little visitors can sit, draw, snooze etc...

A week or two again I ran a list of bookcases, at the time I didn't know about the Book Porcupine.
Had I, it would have certainly featured in the list.
Designed by Chesire based designer Holly Palmer "Book Porcupine" has 18 sections in various sizes for storing and displaying your favourite book.
Not something for everyone, but perfect if your looking for something unusual and colourful.

Ascots been, Wimbledon awaits and thoughts turn to the garden; and of course garden furniture.
Those looking for that something a little different could do worse than investigate the "Pooktre tree chair" as shown on worthacloserlook.
The chair shown below took ten years to reach the stage it is, and so it is no quick solution.
That said I find the idea wonderful for all who have - or are aiming at having - a mature gardern in which to enjoy long sunny days with family and friends.
For me the optimal would be a fruit tree so that one could sit witha good book and enjoy an apple or peach direct from the tree :)

Walls are complex beasts, so why not follow ironicsans advice and save yourself the decision - simply cover your wall in plugs.
I just find it a truly wonderfully novel approach, that could actually work very well in a small office, kitchen or shed.
Although as the authors say: "Of course you don’t have to actually wire all the outlets on the whole wall for electricity, but you’d better come up with a good way to remember which ones are live." :)

Thanks to worthacloserlook for highlighting Button Ups from Bent Hansen. Made exactly like real buttons, just 10 times larger. Not only a fantastic idea but also something different and individual for an entrance hall.

The 2009 edition of the New Designers show runs from 9-12 July and 16-19 July at the Business Design Centre, London.
From 9th to12th the focus is on textiles, fashion & accessories, contemporary applied arts, ceramics & glass, jewellery & precious metalwork.
From 16th to 19th product, furniture and spatial design.
New designers is, according to the organisers, "the only design event to bring together over 3,500 graduates from across all the major disciplines, New Designers will bring you face to face with the next generation of design leaders"
Which sounds great.
