  • so many ideas

Went to Edinburgh College of Art Thursday, as recommended by my deco addict Malin, who studies there. Their exhibition of hand made chairs was excellent. How great it is to see so many different ideas from one given brief. Fabrics by Bute Fabrics were fabulous and good to see this company stretching out a bit more. If anyones in Edinburgh (and the Festival is still on so fab atmosphere!) until 29th August MUST GO SEE!

  • matches and dispatches

Well it's been a week of funerals and weddings, too many of one sadly and not quite enough of the latter. But hey ho! life continues on and as we live in a small close community its better than most. The better news is that our house move to France seems to be moving  steadily nearer with all of the paperwork having been received and signed. It's getting quite exciting now. Still lots of work to do in the Bed and Breakfast here - August is usually mayhem but by the end of September we are looking forward to signing the last of the paperwork and then really making plans!

  • Revolutions

Everyone should check out Sylvia Asts link to business week. Its a really interesting read, lots of info on the founding of Mydeco. Its really great to be involved in something revolutionary, from its eariest days. Yes, its frustrating at times, yes, it doesn't all work fabulously, but what a great opportunity to create something unique. When its all working its absolutley fantastic!! Being able to see what others are doing can take you off in different directions and is really inspiring.

  • Renovations

So the tennis has finished and life can return to whatever passes for normality in these parts. Have been given a couple of pieces of decrepit furniture I decided to sand them down and try to renovate them. After much work with power tool, boilersuit, mask and goggle (some people have been arrested for less!) the results look good. One piece turns out to be a lovely solid oak which has been hidden under layers of varnish and general grime for years. It's really great to see the wood grain appearing - sounding like a bit of an anorak now - must get out more.

  • Wimbledon weather

Will it ever stop raining. While the rest of Britain has been basking over in the far west it's been tipping down. The only consolation is being able to watch the tennis at Wimbledon. New washing machine arriving today so that should help matters. After a busy weekend with guests I have a mountain of ironing to do and hope to be able to do this in the company of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

  • losing my grip

Well having spent yesterday hauling gravel and helping the other half mix concrete, we're having a morning off!  The typing speed's suffering and I'm having trouble holding things. Still the back patio and path look great, looking forward to landscaping it. Its a lovely day here sunshine with a light breeze. So I'm going to take a walk to our local post office and recycling to get rid of the evidence of last nights recuperation from gravel toting wine botttles - empty - :-) Enjoy your day everyone

  • Success

Well a big thanks to all the people in the tech department. Finally got my furniture dragged and dropped. Big sigh of relief in the entire household. I think my family are back talking to me now! Busy season ahead for me, I run a b & b and things are now hotting up - though sadly not the weather here today :-(    All rooms departed now and cleaning and washing done, big decision time now - coffee or planting out the beans into the veg. plot? No contest I think off to put the kettle on!

  • Wit's end

Have had a great experience - up till recently- using the site and design tools. what a great idea for those of us who have no cube like rooms, whose walls wouldn't know a right angle if they saw one! I have created several rooms now but recently when dragging and dropping furniture, flooring etc. it simply will not place stuff in the room. Today I went into one room, dragged & dropped a couple of things no problem, but simply can't get anything into 2 of my outline rooms. Anyone else having this problem? Is it anything I've done in the outline? Any ideas welcome! I
