  • About cool cat

Complete design and interiors enthusiast, hours are spent drawing floor plans of our rooms (biggest regret is not studying architecture) and redesigning our house. my weekends are spent in flea-markets, furntiure stores finished off with a trip to B&Q - heaven!
Embarking on our biggest project yet - the refurbishment of our own home, read all about it on my blog!

Diaries of a home maker

the end is in sight

Apologies for total radio silence... terrible blogging behaviour i know, I can only say i've been so busy with 'the project' i've hardly had time to check emails!

but the good news is my hard work (and lack of computer activity) has paid off and we can see the end.

The kitchen has been installed, the flooring is down and the utility room is there!  the bathroom has a bath and the tiling has just been finished - we're delighted with our marble capucino tiles from Premium Stone found at Topps Tiles, they are beauiful and really add a touch of luxury to our small bathroom.

The downstairs shower room has it's basin now and has been plastered - the orginial shower room (as you will see in my photos sections) was COMPLETELY tiled so the poor builders had a terrible job of stripping them off and replastering the walls to perfection.  we'll just tile the shower cubilcle and above the basin in brick shape marble mosaic and paint the rest white.  it's ironic how the smallest room in the house was the most challenging.  the floor had to be re concreted after the drainage was discovered to be inadequate... so much work for a tiny space!

the rest of the house is looking much better, electrical wires have been tamed into back boxes and light fittings are appearing on the walls.  we are delighted with a purchase from The White Company of a Lotus Ball ceiling light - wow it's gorgeous! when it's up i'll load a photo!  other wall lights came from Mr Light on the Kings Road - who i have to say is a rather grumpy man... not like Mr Light on the Fulham Road!

move in looks like 3 weeks away, whoopie! we bought plantation shutters last night from Sanderson.... does anyone know them or if you've used them please speak up.  we thought the quality was very good and being a stickler for detail, i was impressed with the mechanics of them - very smooth and substantial.

so, over and out for now.  i've loaded a few more photos but will take many more closer to completion!

roll on August bank holiday so we can un pack!

kkx
