    Could anyone help a friend of a friend please?  A friend of mine on myspace has a 10yr old daughter called Grace, who is doing a school project, "Social Studies", over the next 12 months. This involves the school tracking postcards sent  from around the world. Grace has been very ill a lot of times since birth so if anyone is willing to send her a postcard or two over the next year it would really give her a massive boost.   • Stevie Wonder ticket up for grabs!!

    I know this is not really the right place for this but some of you may remember my blog entitled 'I Just Called To Say I Love You' posted in June when I had managed to buy tickets to see Stevie Wonder in concert at the NEC Birmingham. We are going on Mon 8th Sept, but now my niece has to start her new job on that day so she can't come with us. If anyone is interested in buying her ticket please let me know asap (I don't really fancy touting outside the NEC!!) The ticket cost £55+ booking fee, making a total of £60. This is a really genuine offer, in fact, you will be sitting next to me and my family so there is no way I can con you. Jan

    Thanks again for all the votes on OTW but as I have said a few times I do not qualify for this competition. As rule 6 states, entrants must be in full time education in a UK university or within a year of graduation. ( I finished my part time college course 2 years ago.) It's great that so many people have voted for me because of my work and I am now sitting in 10th position! Please keep looking at my profile and enjoying my work, maybe even commission some work!! Good luck to the ones that do qualify.  Jan xx

  • Where did all my OTW votes appear from??

    Hello gang!  I haven't blogged for ages and I almost forgot how to do it. I've been so busy meeting deadlines before the school holidays really kicked in. I managed to complete the big order I had and now I've started on the next one. I have slowed down my pace so that I can spend time with my children over the summer, and thankfully the work I am doing can be done in the evenings as long as I don't have a glass of wine whilst in charge of a sewing machine! Maybe lampshades with wonky seams will be the next big thing, you never know. Remember you heard it here first. I've been keeping an eye on the top of the leaderboard for the OTW competition, it's so exciting, a bit like the Eurovision Song Contest, lol. ;)   However, today I noticed that i am on the first page of the votes. How did that happen whilst I had my back turned? I haven't been looking any further than the top 10 people,  and the last time I looked at my own votes I had just 75, but this evening I noticed I have 199 more »

  • Furniture Studies

    I went to my old college today to look at their end of term exhibition. The quality of the work was superb, as ever. I'd love to take on another course but I really don't think I have the time at the moment, especially knowing the amount of homework it entails. Whilst I was there I also looked at the Furniture Studies exhibition. Wow! The carpentry/cabinet making is fabulous. I was chatting to one of the students about his work and I told him about this site so look out for his work. It's great to hear that the majority of the work is done by hand in the traditional way - dovetail joints etc. The pieces of furniture they had on display was excellent.

    Just in case anyone is vaguely interested - My new favourite song at the moment is Built To Last by Melee - I just LOVE it.  It's got a really summer sound to it, in places it reminds me of a Beach Boys sound.
