I love my Bertoia chairs, they are my favourite item in my home (apart from my boyfriend).
I'm really into home design but don't know where to start! I am looking for a new sofa to go in my living room. I love mid-century design, and enjoying finding out what my style is on mydeco...
If I had unlimited money I'd furnish a big house by the sea with fab 1960's pieces by Eames, Bertoia, and modern pieces from Conran and Habitat!

I bought my Dad these electric pepper and salt mills last year http://mydeco.com/product/electric-peppermill-with-light/13c739674e852207e4e5c872e5e024c7bca49d41/ and he LOVES them. Honestly, I've never seen a grown man so excited by an electronic gadget. I bought him an iPod fr his birthday and believe me, that was nothing compared to these babies...

Write a commentMy favourite 2 artists in the world (aside from those like Matisse who, frankly, I don't ever have a chance of owning :( ) are Rex Ray and Jimmie James. Rex Ray is a San Francisco based artist who does AMAZING collages using magazine cut outs and wood. check out his work at www.rexray.com - he only sells via Jonathan Adler in the US now, which is a bummer, but lots of places do great limited prinhts of his pieces. Jimmie James is also great; I met him on a sidewalk in Soho, New York and he invited me to his studio which was very cool. Since then I have bough a couple of things form him, and am very proud to be possibly his first European 'collector'! ha ha. You can see his stuff here www.jimmiejames.com You can see pics of both artists work on my profile....
It's a toughie. Normally I like to think of myself as the reciever in these situations, but if I were to be the giver I would like to give a big Valentine's bouquet to Clive Owen. I don't think I really need to tell you WHY now, do I?? Have you seen the Bloom bouquet prize? It is GORGEOUS! I want to win please.
There's so much on mydeco, I've put together a handy guide to getting started - read it here http://mydeco.com/design-insider/style/articles/getting-started

It is crazy. I recently saw a woman out in London wearing no jacket and just a strappy dress - and ...
read commentthis guy is a real character. I met him on a sidewalk (sorry, pavement) in New York. He exhibits at galleries and art fairs, but also on street corners :) www.jimmijames.com I bought two of his acrylic paintings on paper, which are stunning. I am sure he won't mind me uploading photos of them, as he's very ken to get his work global! Jimmie is also a musician and he colaborates with his partner, Nuala Clarke on some projects (she also designs CD covers for cool bands).

Write a commentOctober is the best month to start thinking about buying art if you live near London. There are 3 fab art shows this month which you might want to check out.... 1. Frieze art fair (Oct 11 - 14) Great for browsing some seriously expensive art, mainly form the hottest young new artists. Very international, also great for celeb spotting (if you go on Preview night you'll probably mingle with Gwyneth and Chris, Sienna, Jude Meg and Sadie...). Great people watching and good to look at to decide what you like and what you don't like, but don't expect to be able to buy unless you have serious money to spend. 2. Affordable Art Fair (Oct 18 - 21) The definition of "affordable" changes every year... this year it's works below £5,000. The past couple of years there has been less and less original work priced below £1,000 - but you can get some really interesting limited edition prints. I have bought a few things at the NY fair (sweetie) more »

Write a commentI bought this chair at the weekend, from a garage sale in Birmingham. I love the wood frame and its in great condition apart form the seat - I think it could look great recovered in a really cool patterned fabric. Does anyone know how much fabric I will need? Do you like it or is it junk?? It was very cheap :)

Write a commentSo here are some of my fave antiques markets in London - most of them are pretty commercial and you don't often find gems for peanuts any more, but they're still worth a browse. Check them out - maybe you'll find some bargains! Grays antiques market: http://www.graysantiques.com/ near Bond St tube. Huge place, lots of stuff, most of it sold by people who seriously know what they are talking about. No amazing bargains, but great fun to poke around. Full of history... Camden passage - Islington (nearest tube Angel). On Saturday and Sunday this is a great place to browse, lots of interesting stalls covering jewellry, knick-knacks, clothes, books - you name it! My fave brunch tip round here is the fab 'Breakfast Club' on Camden Passage...great for smothies and pancakes. Alfies antiques market http://www.alfiesantiques.com/ - Marylebone (nearest tube Baker St). Lots of variety, bit less traditional than Grays. (Top tip for brunch afterwards: Providores tapas on Marylebone High more »
