UEFA Cup Final

Saddened as I am by the Disaster in China, I also feel hugely dissapointed in the Rangers Fans that decended on Manchester Yesterday. As someone who works in the city, I finished work early and thought I'd go shopping. Unfortunately, the whole of Manchester was overun with Rangers fans. Now, I'm all for people having a good time in a different place, but the streets of manchester were disgusting, never have I seen so much litter across the streets. Shops had been shut so there was no-where else for them to go but the streets. Nevertheless I continued to struggle to find a bus to get home as Picadilly was shut off. No trams or busses could get in or out of Picadilly. When i finally got home and later switched the news, I found that there had been riots because the big screens had not switched on properly. I do not think this is sufficient reason for people to start rioting in manchester. Why did they not go to one of the hundreds of pubs in and around Manchester? Most pubs have T.V's and the Football was being shown on a normal TV channel. I really do not feel there was any need to treat the city the way they did. Most places were either closed off or shut for the fans and the thanks they gave, was to  trash the city. I honestly do feel really dissapointed. If anyone has any further comments. Please let me know. Thanks

What do you think?

I was quite dissapointed too, because in all major tournaments the scottish have always been labelled as the most behaved supporters. I understand their frustrations because some of them spent alot of money for the occassion and were unable to watch the game. This frustration then led to riots, which was fuelled by alcohol, and the city of manchester this morning was left in a disgrace. There was no excuse for this kind of behaviour and if it happened in my city (Leeds) I would not have been happy. But this kind of thing sometimes happens with football, especially with a major game of that magnitude. I bet if the screens worked there would have been no trouble at all. Imagine when we get the chance to host the world cup one day. A food for thought!
