About staceypa
I live in a small but cosy victorian terrace house that my boyfriend and I spent a huge amount of time and energy decorating. Then we added two little westie puppies and as you can imagine the house is not looking quite the same! I work as an interior designer so you could say I have a huge passion for interiors. My pet hates are too much clutter and pine furniture. I love a hint of glamour.
3d room planning
After becoming a complete addict to the 3d room planner I thought I would share a few tips. When starting a new room I try not to do anything too complicated with the room shape I usually start with a rectangle box as you can always add in extra walls, pillars etc later on. I like to start with the wall colours and flooring before I select the furniture as this is the canvas to the look of the room and often a wallpaper or paint colour can inspire your look. If I cant find a good carpet colour I will use a paint colour on the floor and sometimes If I like a rug design I have used it across the entire floor creating a carpet by duplicating it several times. I have used the same principle with pictures on the wall by duplicating the picture I have created what looks like a featured wallpapered wall. I love to use accessories in my rooms they can really lift the room and often just add in a touch of a colour, It can take time adding in dinner plates on the dining table or cushions on sofas but they really do make the difference. It took me a while to discover the side view on the planner (I'm no computer whizz) but it is really useful for placing windows, pictures and wall lights on the wall as you can move them around and put them up higher and one above each other. I would also recommend saving your designs constantly as you dont want to spend hours designing only for your computer to have a fit and shut down before you had the chance to save it.
