These underpasses are one of the main pedestrian routes linking the area's cultural attractions. Yet they are unwelcoming and tend to be avoided with pedestrians choosing instead to dart across busy roads of traffic - including myself a local employee in the area.
There is much potential to develop the space and transform these cold concrete corridors. Using them to display creative and artistic talent sounds like a great idea!...and long overdue.
This is a photo of the underpass around the IMAX cinema in Waterloo, London. The photo is meant to show the improvements that have been made there to make it safer by the government, I assure you this is a flattering picture of the actual state of the underpass. Other than running across the 3 lane roundabout this is the main route to waterloo station and underground as well as to the IMAX cinema, both hugely popular destinations for both Londoners and tourists alike.
